I wanted to have a quiet dinner in a decent place so I chose Greenbelt 5. Greenbelt 5 is not exactly a budget friendly place but I read from a lot of foodie blogs that Mesa offers an affordable menu compared to all the other restos in the location. Mesa is co-owned by Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Megastar Sharon Cuneta's husband. I was not impressed by the food the first time I went there so I thought I'd give the place another chance. This time, I wasn't disappointed. :)
Waited around 20 minutes for our seat. Mesa is always full. :)
Nice light fixture at the waiting area.
After 15-20 more minutes, the food arrived! I was famished! The appetizer came first of course. It came in 10 spoons. The fried Tawilis was garnished with mango and lettuce (?). Surprisingly, the bagoong was good. I hardly eat bagoong, but the paste from this appetizer, I liked. I even asked for the rice (Php 30 per cup for plain rice) to be served because I wanted to start eating.
Tawilis with Mangga on spoon at 125 Php
I liked the lamp on our table. I didn't realize it had a big sea shell on it until I took this photo.
The main dish arrived after a few minutes. Their chicken pork adobo was delish! I even ate the fatty part (eew!). Just thinking about it is making me hungry.
Chicken Pork Adobo at Php 180.
The palabok came in last. It was a big serving, enough for 2-3 people. It was good too. If your thinking of buying 2 orders of palabok in Jollibee, just go to Mesa and order 1. The best part of it is, it had tofu! Tofu is my favorite ingredient, I cook it with everything.
Palabok at Php 135.
Overall, I liked my dining experience that night and will come back to try out more dishes. I will try to blog about the first time I ate in Mesa, soon.
Ambiance : warm and filled with beautiful people :)
Price : 400-500 per person
Plus : Relatively inexpensive (for a greenbelt 5 resto) but elegant.
Minus : Always full! So make a reservation for special dinners.
