Samurai has served my favorite takoyaki since I was a kid. I remember how my mom used to always get me these when we were on the mall. Eating takoyaki is one of my happy memories from my childhood. Imagine my delight when I saw the little kiosk hidden under the stairs just near the entrance of Robinson's Pioneer mall.
The lady on the counter was feisty and forbade me to take photos, but I already had what I needed. Doesn't she know letting people take photos is free advertising? I guess it's one of the reasons why Samurai doesn't have so many branches in the malls these days.

It looks yummy! Well, I know a lot of food kiosks doesn't allow pictures and I am not getting their point either! It is free advertising!
I think the main reason she doesn't like her photo taken is that she doesn't creative entrepreneurs to come along and copy or innovate her system. There will always be new players in the takoyaki market that will want to know what the successful competition is doing.
She sure didn't like having her picture taken, did she? I think the main reason food cart operators discourage picture-taking is to try to thwart competition from gaining proprietary information about the operation (and either duplicate it or innovate it). Still, she can't stop creative entrepreneurs from conducting stealth research. It's just the nature of a free market. PS: I love takoyaki. My wife makes it for me often...
